Overview

About Edit metadata

Open a PDF here to see what it already carries: its title, author, subject, keywords, and the creator app that made it. You'd reach for this when a document shows a stale filename or someone else's name in the title bar, or when you want clean, accurate descriptive fields before you share it. Type new values, leave the fields you don't care about alone, and download a PDF with the metadata overwritten. It edits the Info dictionary fields directly; it does not touch page content. To wipe everything for privacy instead of editing it, use the Remove metadata tool.

Questions

Frequently asked

Which metadata fields can I change?
You can view and overwrite the title, author, subject, keywords, and creator fields in the PDF's Info dictionary. The page content itself is never altered, only these descriptive properties.
What happens to fields I leave blank?
Fields you don't touch are left exactly as they were. Clearing a field's value instead removes that entry from the document, so blanking the title means the PDF ends up with no title rather than an empty one.
Does this delete all hidden metadata from my file?
No, this tool edits the named fields you give it rather than scrubbing everything. If your goal is to strip out identifying information before sharing, use the separate Remove metadata tool, which clears the Info dictionary and the XMP stream.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDF is read into memory and the metadata is rewritten on your device, right in the browser, so your file never leaves it. You can confirm this by opening your browser's Network tab and watching for no upload request.
