About Bates numbering

Bates numbering stamps a unique, sequential identifier on every page so a document set can be referenced exactly during discovery, depositions, or production. You set the prefix, the starting number, how many digits to pad to, and where the stamp sits, and each page gets the next number in order. Reach for it before you hand a PDF to opposing counsel or the court, when "page 14 of the Smith deposition" needs to become a citation anyone can find. Can I set the prefix, starting number, and padding?
Yes. You choose the prefix text, the start number, how many digits to zero-pad to, and the corner or center position, so a start of 1 padded to six digits with prefix BATES- produces BATES-000001 and counts up from there.
Where does the number get placed on the page?
The stamp goes in the position you pick: bottom-right, bottom-center, bottom-left, top-right, top-center, or top-left. You can also adjust the font size and the margin from the edge so it does not overlap your content.
Does it renumber the whole set continuously across the document?
Yes, within the single PDF you load. It numbers every page sequentially from your start value to the last page; because it works on one file at a time, running a multi-file set means continuing the start number yourself on the next file.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The numbering happens in your browser and your file never leaves your device, with nothing sent to a server. You can confirm this by opening your browser's Network tab and watching for no uploads while it runs.
