About Auto-crop margins

Reach for this when a PDF has wide white borders from scanning or printing and you want each page trimmed to its actual content. It renders every page locally, finds the bounds of the non-white pixels, and sets a per-page crop box with a little padding around the content, so columns of different widths each get their own tight crop. You control the scan scale, how much off-white still counts as background (white tolerance), and how much padding to keep. It only adjusts the visible crop region, so your real text and images stay intact underneath.

Frequently asked

Does cropping delete the trimmed margins or just hide them?
It only sets each page's crop box, which changes the visible area without removing anything from the underlying page. The full original content stays in the file, so your text and images are untouched and a later tool can restore the wider view.
Why are some pages left at their original size?
A page is only cropped when detectable content sits inside white margins and the new box is actually smaller than the page. Pages that are already tight, or that have content reaching every edge, are kept as they are.
What do the scan scale, white tolerance, and padding options do?
Scan scale sets how finely each page is rendered before margins are measured, white tolerance decides how light a pixel can be and still count as background, and padding is the breathing room kept around the detected content. Raise tolerance if faint paper texture is being treated as content, and raise padding for a looser crop.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Each page is rendered and measured in your browser, and only the crop boxes are written back on your device. Open the Network tab and watch while it runs; you will see no file-upload request.
