About Sanitize PDF

Reach for this before you send a PDF outside your team, when you want the visible pages without the baggage that rides along with them. It strips author and tool metadata, document-level JavaScript, embedded files, and page actions, and you can also clear annotations and form fields with the two toggles. The work happens in your browser through the Rust core, so the file is never uploaded. One thing to know first: a password-protected PDF has to be unlocked before you sanitize it, since editing it while encrypted would corrupt the pages.

What exactly does it remove from my PDF?
It strips metadata, document-level JavaScript, embedded files, and page actions, and optionally annotations and form fields. The two toggles for annotations and form fields are on by default, so turn them off if you need to keep markups or fillable fields.
Why won't it sanitize my password-protected PDF?
An encrypted PDF is rejected up front because editing it while still encrypted would corrupt the page content. Unlock the file first with its password, then sanitize the unlocked copy.
Will the page content and text still look the same?
Yes. It removes hidden and active extras like scripts, embedded files, and metadata, but leaves the visible pages and their selectable text intact.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The sanitizing runs entirely in your browser through the Rust core, so your file never leaves your device. You can confirm it yourself by watching the Network tab while the tool works.
